Sculpture and text work, 2018.
Marble, paper and carpet.

The solo exhibition Quiet was presented in the Basement Gallery, Geysir Home in 2018. The exhibition consisted of a sculpture and text work. Photo credit Leifur Wilberg Orrason.

The exhibition consists of text works and a floor sculpture, and is based on a new narrative and with new material. In the foreground is a play on the concepts “abstract” and “form,” with reference to what it means to be local. Language, words, and the interplay of light, form, and color are also prevalent themes, as has been with Jóna Hlíf’s previous works.

All the works are related to memories of places in, or near, the highlands, from travels dating back to various points in time. Behind each work is a picture of a place, described in as few words as possible, in order to extract the essence of the recollection of the experience. What unites is clear skies, purity and stillness - at least of the mind.
