Sheets 2014

The tree stands still, a dead-tired symbol of life and growth of an individual, an enduring cliché that still stands and blossoms as a metaphor. The tree is life and the road. Paper on the other hand; it contains personality. Paper is like a person; sometimes dry, bendable, fragile, forgettable, beautiful, meek, serving, empty, inviting, rewarding, attentive, broken, bent, shriveled, worn, impersonal but inquiring. So very mild and harmless, paper; not like the pen. Paper is character. It is fragile, bendable, strong, and weak. It is mundane and therefore somehow always reminds me of other mundane phenomena that are taken for granted; milk, running water, stones, bread.
